Stage one of the Fly & Build project has now been completed. We had to split the project into two parts as the main builders had only limited time they could give to this. Stage one of the project involved marking and cutting the site which turned out to be a very hard process as under the surface we found huge rocks that had to be excavated or cut. We had three machines working and two jack hammers to accomplish the desired leveling. The work usually started at 6:30am with morning worship and breakfast and finished at 11:00pm in the evening. We only stopped for meals and evening worship. The volunteers really put their heart and all their strengths to finish stage one. There were people who helped bringing up materials late in the evening so we can keep working uninterupted. We are very thankful for those who supported and will support this project by these various means: physically, financially or by prayer and moral support. If you feel inspired to help out you can still donate now. The AUC Youth Department

The Projects
There are two main projects we are hoping to finish
Outdoor Amphitheatre
Br Ben Thiel and Br Robin Gordon walked into the bush one day and found an unbelievably beautiful spot. The idea straight away emerged; “an outdoor church”! This location is just meters away from the main hall and embedded in a picturesque surrounding, creating a possibility of worshiping or holding meetings in an open air environment. You will not believe it until you see the location. We know you will fall in love with this place once you see it. With a little work, it can be turned into a comfortable open-air amphitheatre.
Youth Recreational Facility
This is a much wanted project by the youth. Elim Heights youth campground offers a large territory for walks and different activities but offers no other recreational possibilities. The Youth Department wants to make your stay at this campground even more interesting. After much discussion and several committee meetings a location has been selected for building a facility that will provide for more fun activities such as flying fox, high rope course and a place where some non-competitive ball games can be played.
Raising Funds
To complete the two projects we need financial support also
To complete the projects we need to raise some funds. If you cannot volunteer, your financial support will be much appreciated. The estimated total cost is illustrated in the chart below. Please consider helping generously. To donate, you can click on the button below. With a Paypal account, donations are possible by bank transfer or credit/debit card. If you don’t have a Paypal account, you can still make a credit/debit card payment. We thank you in advance. The AUC Youth Department
We’ve already collected $25,000 of the $60,000 needed.
A Few Photos of the Progress
The daily progress in Pictures
Day One
Marking the site and starting excavation.
Day Two
Excavation still continuing with three machines. Holes were drilled with much pain and two jack hammers.
Day Three
Drilling the holes and concreting the steel post for the sleepers.
Day Four
Posts all in the ground and ready for the concrete sleepers to go in.
Day Five
All sleepers went in, clean up and getting ready to leave site until stage two.
Night Work
The evening didn’t stop us, we worked just as hard.
Excavation
Huge rocks were in the way which needed to be taken out or cut.
Drilling Holes
Drilling holes was tedious work.
Cleaning the Rocks
Holes were often cleaned by hand
Concreting Posts
Everyone was really busy.
Jack Hammering
This was the hardest job on the site.
Mixing Concrete
Mixing concrete was an art.
Some Fun
Finally some fun to make the job easier.

Fly and Build Stage Two
Stage two of the Fly and Build is now almost complete. It was a six day project and most of the work was finished. The remaining retaining wall was erected, soil behind the retaining wall was refilled and compacted, seating was installed, a stage was created out of timber and some landscaping done. There is some more work to be done and we hope to finish that before the end of the year by the grace of God. Recreational facilities have been started as well and we are hoping to get at least one part of that finished before the end of this year. There is much more we plan to do next year so please check back here to find out about more upcoming projects. You may also donate to cover some of the costs involved so far. To do so please scroll up and click on the ‘donate now’ button.
Thank you for your prayers and help.
